Principal's Letter

Welcome to Grand Prairie! At Grand Prairie, we believe in the importance of providing an experience where children are given the opportunity to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. We strive to maximize each child’s individual potential in all areas, while creating a happy, healthy, and safe environment.

Our staff is dedicated to implementing current research-based instructional practices in all content areas. We utilize a variety of assessments, both summative and formative. Per state law, students are given universal screener assessments three times a year in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. These assessments are analyzed by the school as a whole and help us make data informed decisions that guide our classroom and individual instruction.

Socially, your child will continue to have many opportunities to understand and internalize positive character traits. Students will learn the difference between “expected behavior” and “unexpected behavior.” Teachers are always on the lookout for students demonstrating positive Character Counts traits of respect, responsibility, and caring. Your son/daughter may even come home with a “Tiger Stripe” reward he/she earned for demonstrating positive character traits.

In order for us to be successful, we ask you to work with us as partners in your child’s education. We believe that children grow and develop to their highest potential when a strong relationship is built between the home and school. Our goal is to develop a home school connection based on mutual respect and support as we work together in providing opportunities for student success. Our focus remains aligned to our district mission, “to prepare students to be confident, life-long learners and productive citizens by challenging them to reach their fullest potential and by providing a quality educational environment in partnership with family and community.”
