Principal's Letter

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year at Hickory Creek Middle School! For parents/guardians whose children are entering our school for the first time, a special welcome and thank you for trusting the staff with the education of your child. For parents/guardians of returning students, please know that the same care, commitment, and “Tradition of Excellence” Frankfort 157-C showed previously will continue throughout this year.

Hickory Creek is an amazing place to grow, learn, and prepare for the future. Attended by students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades, we welcome challenges and accept adversity. We offer a full academic and co-curricular program. In addition to placing an emphasis on the Common Core State Standards, we infuse social emotional learning and 21st century skills into our curriculum. Effective use of instructional technology and Digital Citizenship is imbedded into all of our classrooms. Upon graduation, every student at Hickory Creek receives instruction in our state of the art STEM Learning Lab. The educational experiences provided at Hickory Creek prepare our students to be successful young adults in an ever changing world.

Hickory Creek has been recognized as a “Demonstration School” by the Association of Middle Schools and an Illinois Horizon School “Schools to Watch.” Hickory Creek received the Raising Student Achievement Award by the Regional Office of Education. Most recently, Hickory Creek earned the Illinois Elementary School Association Regional Sportsmanship Award. Stable resources, highly qualified staff members, exceptionally motivated students, a supportive community and comprehensive programs are what fosters success for all of our students.

Hickory Creek demonstrates academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, social equity, and organizational structures designed to support a trajectory toward excellence. We are only successful with the continued support from our community, staff and students. Your input is very valuable as we continue to grow to support all of our learners. Please do not hesitate to call or stop by the office to give suggestions, feedback or positive comments. Go Tigers!
