Don't forget My ELA students need to finish and return the 3rd quarter Book Challenge projects by Friday, March 22nd.

Eureka Math - We are moving through Topic 6 Decimals. We will assessing for Mid-Module for this topic tomorrow (Tuesday - Wednesday). This will be a great chance to bring up math grades before the end of the quarter.

For math review the kids have been using a new program at school called Prodigy. They are loving it. Feel free to access from home. This will be a great review for IAR testing.

Feel free to visit you tube and search for the current Eureka module and lesson. You will find videos that will guide you on some of the problems from the lesson.

Module Tip sheets can be found in the downloads section of the web page.

Focus and following along with lessons is a major issue in the classroom. Please remind your child to stay focused and work hard. We need to listen better and limit our talking to a minimum. Talking continues to be a issue lately. Continued talking will result in Mr. Van Talking tickets which may result in a One Minute Reflection. If three One Minute Reflections are given a school detention is issued.

ELA Writing

We are working on Narrative skills this quarter. We are focusing on writing a narrative story of our own. We will develop characters, setting and plot events. We will work on organization, dialogue and using transitions as we write.

The 40 Book Reading Challenge 3rd quarter Book Project is due in a few weeks. Please keep working.

This quarter student are required to fill out a mini book report for every book they read. They will also need to pick one book and do a fun project on the book. Projects may include a PowerPoint, Diorama, or even a movie poster. These projects will be discussed this week. Many students are moving along and enjoying the free reading time. Please check in those books and track that reading. Please spend at least 20 minutes each night reading to finish the challenge books throughout the year.

A Mr. Van ELA update note was sent home last week that discusses the Book Project.
